The KGH Foundation has awarded two $2,000 scholarships and two $1,000 scholarships to local students planning to pursue an education in the heath care field in the 2009-10 academic year. Two recipients were selected from the community pool of applicants and two recipients were chosen from among KGH employees. Kamiakin High School senior Susanna Savino of Kennewick received a $2,000 scholarship. She will attend the University of Washington and plans to pursue a career as a hospital administrator. Kippy Becker of Pasco, a Certified Nursing Assistant in the KGH Family Birthing Center, received a $2,000 scholarship towards earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Samantha Bridger of Grandview was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to financially assist her achieving a nursing degree from WSU-Tri Cities. Kristie Moore, a Medical Staff Coordinator at KGH, was provided with a $1,000 scholarship to aid her goal of earning a Health Care Administration bachelor’s from the University of Phoenix. The scholarships were awarded based on need, commitment to healthcare, academic performance, and community service experience. The selection committee was comprised of eight members of the KGH Foundation Board of Directors, with Mr. Sal Beltran serving as the chair. |
